It’s shaping up to be an exciting one. Filey Kite Festival is back with colourful displays and family fun, while Whitby offers a very different kind of day out at the distillery. And if you’ve ever wondered what a night at one of Yorkshire’s most expensive hotels looks like, Grantley Hall might surprise you. Meanwhile, here in Beverley, there’s plenty to enjoy closer to home. 🪁 Filey Kite Festival set to soar.
The biggest Filey Kite Festival yet takes off on September 20-21 at the Country Park, featuring displays, workshops, a Teddy Bear drop, and the Filey Food Festival alongside. Free fun for the whole family. Event details
🍴 Pocklington Food & Drink Festival returns.
Pocklington town centre will host its two-day Food and Drink Festival on 4–5 October, packed with street food, live music, comedy, and family fun. A real feast for the senses. See details

🍸 Do Something a Bit Different in Whitby
Looking for something beyond fish and chips and seaside strolls? The Whitby Distillery Tour offers a behind-the-scenes look at how small-batch gin is made - complete with a botanical masterclass, stories of local folklore, and a tasting session of award-winning spirits. It’s a great way to experience a different side of Whitby, especially if you’re a fan of gin (or just like a good story). East Riding Council has approved plans to turn the renowned Whites restaurant on North Bar Without back into a family residence. Once in the Good Food Guide, it now faces a new chapter. Read more
🚧 £100,000 roadworks planned near Beverley
Main Street in Etton is set for resurfacing and drainage upgrades as part of a £100,000 council project starting September 22. Expect diversions and a week of daytime closures. Check it out
🚧 £250,000 road repairs across the East Riding
Essential repairs are scheduled this autumn on major A-roads, including Bainton, Fridaythorpe, Goole, Stamford Bridge, Howden, and Driffield. Expect overnight closures and diversions through late October. Check it out
