💰 Council Budget: Big Investments Ahead
The East Riding of Yorkshire Council has approved its £1 billion budget for the coming year, focusing on youth projects, infrastructure, and local services despite economic challenges.
🏡 Key Highlights:
✅ £150,000 for youth projects to boost skills and engagement.
✅ £300,000 in community grants for local groups and sports clubs.
✅ Major road improvements: £21M for Jocks Lodge, £18M for Howden Link Road.
✅ 4.99% council tax increase to sustain essential services.
Council Leader Anne Handley stressed the importance of investing in young people, while Councillor Nigel Wilkinson highlighted the focus on sustainable growth. This budget aims to build a strong and resilient future for the East Riding.
