π³οΈ Countdown to Mayoral Election for Hull and East Yorkshire Begins
The countdown has officially begun for a major moment in our region's future. On Thursday 1 May, residents across Beverley, Hull, and the East Riding will head to the polls for the first-ever Hull and East Yorkshire Combined Authority Mayoral Election.
The newly elected mayor will work closely with local leaders to unlock funding, attract investment, and shape key priorities in areas like transport, housing, and skills. East Riding Council Chief Executive Alan Menzies, who is overseeing the election, described it as "an opportunity to have your say on who represents our region for the next four years."
With the pre-election period now in full swing, residents are urged to check theyβre registered to vote before the deadline on Friday, 11 April. Registration takes just five minutes online at gov.uk/register-to-vote.
Voters should also note that photo ID is now required at polling stations. Alternatively, you can apply for a postal or proxy vote if preferred - just be sure to do so before the deadlines in April.
Keep an eye on your post, as polling letters with full details will be arriving soon. This is your chance to help shape the future of Hull and the East Riding - make your voice heard!
